Etienne PICART known as Romain publisher...
Etienne PICART known as Romain publisher (Paris 1632 - Amsterdam 1721) "Le Sepulcher de NS Jesus Christ" Original engraving by Jacques Lubin (Paris 1637 - 1695) datable to 1686, the year in which it was announced on the Mercure de France, by a subject traditionally but erroneously attributed to Eustache Le Sueur (1616 - 1655) and considered by a recent criticism a work by a copyist who associated elements of both Le Sueur and Poussin and Bourdon. Beautiful specimen trimmed without loss inside the impression of the slab and entirely glued on a support sheet of thick eighteenth-century paper on which you can see the notations in red pencil, with the trace of a central vertical crease and a short recomposed tear at the center of the high edge but overall in excellent general condition.
